Know your Purpose

I have been in City Harvest for 14 years and in Children's Church for 12 years. What happened to me for 2 years?? Ha! I didn't BS lah, I went NS.. Had cell group yesterday and we were all talking about the years that we have been in City Harvest! 1st: Michael, 15years, 2nd: ME!! 14 years and 3rd: Lena and Esther, 12 years. Time really flies and you can never catch it back.
However, it is just amazing how we stayed on and grow together with City Harvest. People came and people left. It has been an amazing 14 years journey. So where do i go from now?? Last week and yesterday was like a reminder, a wake up call for me.
I need to go back to my first love, the reason why I am here and why I am doing what I am doing. Is it for me to gain fame and recognition?? Is it that I have earn big bucks from what I am doing?? Yes, I am quite famous in Children's Church among the children. Haha. I also don't deny the fact that I do earn from what I am doing..... but it is the purpose and the commitments and the passion that I need to remember and continue in this journey. My journey has not ended and I am still moving on. However, am i moving on a straight line or on a progressive slope?? I believe I got to constantly ask myself this.
Be dissatisfied with where you are now. Be in the thinking and asking. Be in the knowing. Be willing to sacrifice and go the extra mile. Inconvenience yourself for the sake of others. Be teachable, be humble. For UNITY sake, accept those who are different from you and love them!! Haha. These are just some of the things that we need to do so that we can see growth!! Amazing!! If I remember more, I will include them in. :)
God I want to know you more!

God, please hold on to time. I want to take my own sweet time to enjoy the things that I am doing. How? Can a not?

Against You?

I am not against anyone. I am not and I never will. I just want to clear any misunderstanding. I am just not happy with the way that you do things and if you step into my boundary and caused my comfort zone to be uncomfortable, of course, I will be frustrated and irritated and agitated and flare up!!

To the rest, I might be kind and friendly but don't even comment too much or nag your way through me cause I have my temper too! Hahahaha. Let your Yes be Yes and your No No...

Blackberry

I love Nokia cos it is human technology. Easy to use n understand.

I never wanted blackberry, well, maybe because black is a symbolism of mystery. So wat does mystery means? Well, it simply means hard to use lah...But slowly n surely, my surroundin friends began to use blackberry; Wendy, Pst, Glordia, Xinwei, Joanna! Argh! Unimaginable! Blackberry has invaded Children's Church! My heart began to itch, my mind began to contemplate, should I or should I not? Finally, in order to be in the sonship of Pst Eileen Toh Poh Chin, I decided! Yes! Blackberry here I come. It was faith at  work. Never have I used a "chim" gadget before but I took the step of faith! Off goes my HTC Touch (become quite insensitive to touch). My wife bought me a Blackberry on my birthday.

So like any new owner, I mingle n tangle with the phone n instruction book, trying to comprehend the unfamiliar phone. Soon I gave up! Haha. I did something clever! "Hello? How you do this n that?" Asked my friends n soon I was an intermediate. Soon (again!) Adeline, Lynn n Connie joined the fun! Yeah! A whole new life opened up. I was able to go into internet, play games, twitter, facebook, blackberry, upload photos, task, calendar, word mole not to mention call, sms, email n mms! All in a gadget! Exciting! Yap! I mean it cos I won't be bored during bus or mrt rides! I can do a lot of things in a hand's time!

So if you are pondering what phone to get, Blackberry! Make your and my life easy! Hint: Paul, wat are you waiting for?

Btw, did I mention that I wrote this blog thru my Blackberry. :)

Common Sense for 2009

The Bible says in Prov. 4:7, that “in all our getting, get understanding,” which is really nothing more than “anointed common sense.” I came across a piece of advice Warren Buffet gave to his shareholders for 2009. I was amazed by the simplicity and common sense found in his approach toward basic management of money. This is what Buffet said:
“We begin this New Year with dampened enthusiasm and dented optimism. Our happiness is diluted and our peace is threatened by the financial illness that has infected our families, organizations and nations.
Everyone is desperate to find a remedy that will cure their financial illness and help them recover their financial health. They expect the financial experts to provide them with remedies, forgetting the fact that it is these experts who created this financial mess.

Every new year, I adopt a couple of old maxims as my beacons to guide my future. This self-prescribed therapy has ensured that with each passing year, I grow wiser and not older. This year, I invite you to tap into the financial wisdom of our elders along with me, and become financially wiser.

* Hard work: All hard work bring a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.
* Laziness: A sleeping lobster is carried away by the water current.
* Earnings: Never depend on a single source of income. [At least make your investments get you second earning.]
* Spending: If you buy things you don’t need, you’ll soon sell things you need.
* Savings: Don’t save what is left after spending; spend what is left after saving.
* Borrowings: The borrower becomes the lender’s slave.
* Accounting: It’s no use carrying an umbrella, if your shoes are leaking.
* Auditing: Beware of little expenses; a small leak can sink a large ship.
* Risk-taking: Never test the depth of the river with both feet. [Have an alternate plan ready.]
* Investment: Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

I’m certain that those who have already been practicing these principles remain financially healthy. I’m equally confident that those who resolve to start practicing these principles will quickly regain their financial health.”
There is truly no short-cut to success. We all need to remind ourselves of these back-to-basic principles of life, wisdom and common sense.

Korea

After my Hong Kong trip, I went Korea!! Took some photos too but it was a testing trip! HaHa. What do I mean? Cos I have to wake up at 330am SIngapore time to attend prayer meeting at Yoido Full Gospel Church! It is the largest church in the world and it is still growing. The amazing thing is how the people can wake up so early to pray and the whole auditorium is full!!

It was recharging to see all this and it really make me want more of God in my life. 2008 didn't really end well but God rewarded me with this trip to strengthen and enforce the call in my life! I was called to be a minister to the children and I will always be even when I am old...but i will still look young! Amen!!
