It's Been A Long Time

It has been a long time since I blog and many many things have happened!! Finished Children's Day and I thank God for all the children that came!! It was not easy but thank God He brought me thru... In the midst of it, I went to Shanghai for a day and came back in the midst of the busyness but thank God He brought me thru..

After Children's Day, children came and stayed.. It was not easy but thank God He brought me thru..

Lots of photos needed for an important meeting... brought the kids, bought the groceries, brought to the elderly but thank God He brought me thru..

Went to China again for an Extreme Makeover. Thank God for the talent that has been given to me. I never grow weary of my talent because it is what God has given to me to bless the people around me. I might not be the richest, I might not be the strongest, I might not be the smartest but I thank God for what I have that He can use me. It was a great trip, blessing them with my talent. During this trip, I came out with a phrase... "With every mistake is an opportunity to be creative!" It was not easy but thank God He brought me thru.

What could be worst than losing your best of friends.. We have been the best of friends for so long... What has happen to you? Why are you doing all you are doing? Do you know what you are doing? We care and love you for who you are and not what you have done... We are just waiting. It has not been easy for us but God I know you will bring me thru too.

Reality Can Be Painful

Yes, it can be... But at times, we just have to wake up from our dreams and move on.

Happy Teacher's Day

Happy Teacher's Day to all the teachers in the world!!

We had a Happy Teacher's Day Vote and though I didn't win the favourite teacher vote. Here are some conmments from the children about me. Hee Hee.

From Yujing:
As my visitation teacher, Teacher Anson always visits me very week no matter what happens. I still remember a few days ago on Friday, the day which he is supposed to visit me. It was raining and thunder and lightning filled the sky. Nevertheless, he still visits me. I want to thank Teacher Anson and a Happy Teacher's Day!

From Kirstie Kwan:
He often visits me at home, he is funny and brave and like to tell me and my friends jokes and make us cheerful and happy. He likes to make funny faces too!

From Kitty Kwan:
He is very handsome and always help backstage (Ha!ha!)

From Austin:
He is funny and interesting.

From Lay Khim:
He is kind. He is quite funny sometimes. He console me cousin, too.

From Lucas Keang Portillo:
He helps the church everytime and helps to set the games.

from Cai Duyi and Cai Haiyun:
He is very funny, cute and helpful.

Jessica and Andrew Ong:
He creates the games and they are fun and interesting (think they got the wrong person cos I don't lead games! Ha ha ha)

Unknown:
He helps people and he is helpful. He carried things out that other teachers can show or perform for us to see and tell about the meaning. That is why my favourite teacher is Teacher Anson!

Teacher Anson is daring to do scary stuff like bursting balloons for bible lesson. He is also quite funny from the photo.

Really touched by the things that they said. It make all the things that I have done for the children worth it.

Opportunities

How often does opportunities knock on your door?? I should say many many many times but we misses it many times too... Was really inspired by 2 speakers, Dr. A. R. Bernard and Dr. Joyce Meyer, about opportunities.

Dr. Bernard quoted from the bible about how Saul was out chasing donkeys when Samuel found him and anointed him as the 1st king of Israel. Likewise, our daily life is like "Chasing donkeys", it might seems so mundane and at times boring, but it is during such times that opportunties will come and make something great out of it.

Dr. Meyer talked to us about not missing the opportunties by knowing who you are in God. Having the assurance of your identity in Christ when you do things. No matter what happens, always go back to the word of God and confessing His words. Don't try to be who you are not... Be who you are in God. When opportunities come, just do it.

I must say that this two speakers are not young anymore, both are in their 60s, if I am not mistaken about Dr. Bernard and they are still living a life for God and being so active in serving. It really dawns upon me the opportunities that I have grabbed especially in serving Children's Church. I was just attending church as a young Christian at Westin Stamford when i saw an area partitioned for children. The excitement and noise drew me close and somehow I know I want to be there.

Subsequently, as some of my members were helping in Children's Church's props, I volunteered myself and was given the opportunity to be interviewed by Pst. Eileen. She asked me why I want to serve in Children's Church. I told her because I want to learn from the children. She was bewildered and said you are suppose to teach them, what you want to learn from them.. I told her the childlike faith and innocence of the children. Ha Ha. That was how I got into the minstry.

Time really flies... I have been in this ministry since I become a Christian minus the 2 years in army. That is 10 years I think. Wow!! Imagine how I was chasing donkeys when such opportunity strikes and I thank God that I didn't miss it. Amen.

Passion

"You have to have a burning desire in your heart. If you do not have a burning desire, then wait and ask God to impart His desire to your heart. God does not like the lukewarm, for He specializes only in the red hot; if you have that red hot burning desire, then you are going to have results." Dr. David Yonggi Cho

Happy Birthday, Mi.

It was my mum's birthday and my wife and I brought my parents out for lunch at SAKURA!!
I haven't really brought my parents out for a meal and I thank God for this opportunity that I can sow into their life. I believe that it will not be the last. Though it was only a lunch, I can see that they enjoyed themselves. My dad even went shopping after that and lasted quite long before going home. Breakthrough for him cos normally he want to go home fast. Haha.

P.S: My own concoction of Root beer. Thank God got no diarrohea.

A Higher Way

Just had an event with Talking Hands... It was fun though the event started one hour late cos of one was late and then another incident lead to another. When the people arrived at the destination, it was one hour later.

Started our Singapore Cake Making Competition. Wow!! Such creativity and excitement from the people. Will show u some pics.

After that, had dinner and went to the highlights!! Songs of the Sea... The effects was superb but the plot... The most important thing is that the people enjoyed themselves.

Continued fellowship at Vivo Swensen. Jac Sim's husband to be treated us and she expect a BIG ANG BAO for a wedding. Ha! Yes a BIG ANG BAO loh... LITERALLY!

Before going for the event, did 3 financial assistance interview, did admin for the event, judge drawings for competition, went to Raffles Place to find presents, bought props for games and a red shirt.

I thank God that my day is not wasted. It was rush but I have the peace and assurance of God that everything is going to be alright. Yes... It will be...

Death of MR CARROT!!

Well actually it is one of the CCH volunteers acting as 大蘿蔔. It is really fun being in CCH cos we get to do things that we don't really will do in normal life. Really!! Like being a mascot, a clown, a crazy prof, prince charming, Christmas tree and lots more crazy and wacky characters. It challenges you to step out of the box and be a fool for CHRIST.

My Friend Again

Heros or Superstars

Something I read in a book...

"Our age finds it difficult to come to grip with Churchill. The political leaders with whom we are familiar generally aspire to be superstars rather than heros. The distinction is crucial. Superstars strive for approbation; heros walk alone. Superstars crave consensus; heros define them by the judgement of a future they see it as their task to bring about. Superstars seek success in a technique for eliciting support; heros pursue success as the outgrowth of their inner values. Winston Churchill was a hero." Henry Kissinger

So is Pst Kong.... So is Sun.... So is Pst Eileen...

Who do you want to be? Heros or Superstars? I want to be a hero, I know it is difficult but it is worth it.

Children are creative ah!!

Children's drawing of ROBOTS. Imaginative!! Superb!! Marvellous!!

Rush rush rush

It was a mad rush from Monday onwards. After Easter Big Day, there is another major event. FOLLOW UP!!. Call the BNC, BS and IRREG. Tabulate and give BNC report. Everyday!! Had sign language class on Tuesday. Though tired, enjoyed it a lot. Signed for Wee wee when praying. Wednesday had to do some case interview. Then off to visit at Bishan and Sengkang. Today woke up early to go JW to clear storeroom. Did a pretty good job. Heeeee. Then off to visit, visit and visit...Jurong West, Choa Chu Kang and Woodlands. Then back to office to do some work and home. Tomolo is off day for me!! But still need to look into things like collect movie vouchers, draw story, do props and do service at INDOOR STADIUM.. What an exciting life!! Quite frustrated though but have to lean on God and draw close to Him.

Ate KFC on the bus back to office. Here it is!!

It filled my stomach and it was yummy!!

Now is zzzzzzzzzz time. Good night.

Guess where is this??

1. A restaurant
2. A bar
3. A library
4. None of the above

For the answer... See you tomolo.

What a week!!

Had another Talking Hands event today. MOVIE MARATHON!!! The HI have to watch 3 movies and answer 15 questions. It was as simple as that. However due to time constrain, only managed to watch 2 movies. Those who have the available time continued to watch the 3rd one.

The best deal about this event is the HIs only paid $2 and they got to watch 3 movies, eat, drink and be merry. I really believe they enjoyed themselves. For the volunteers, it was an opportunity for us to plan for our next event and our next newsletter while the HIs watched the movies. We came up with some great ideas for our next event, Msytery BBQ and Talking Hands Express. Talking Hands is getting more and more interesting and I get to learn sign language from next week onwards!! FUN!! My greatest desire is to sign for service. It would be fun.

Anyway my week didn't start with the Movie Marathon. It started with a scolding from Pst... A slip of mind can cause chaos... Learn to be more caring... Then it continued with saturation, visitation, sourcing of presents, and other misc. things. The greatest challenge for me this week is to visit not one, not 2 but 4 groups and they are like all over SIngapore. From Sengkang at the north east to Jurong and Choa Chu Kang in the West and not forgetting Woodlands in the north...

I also called almost all the child care and student care centres in Hougang, Sengkang, Punggol and Jurong West St 75. It was a humbling experience to speak politely to the supervisor without being imposing and thanking them even if I got rejected... That is life and I moved on... Hahahahaha. LIfe is great! Live hard!!

Next week is going to be even more exciting. I am still believing God for 700 children from my zone. With God, all things are possible. As we go to the highways and the byways, God you will provide the way!! I claim 700 in Jesus' name!! Thank you for everything! Thank you for the week ahead. Thank you.

Honor your parents

"Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you. Deuteronomy 5:16

My parents came to stay with me today. It would be an opportunity for me to be a filial son, I hope. I am getting busy and busy as the days go by with Easter Big day coming. I hope that they will adapt well to my house. I will do my best and I know that God will give me a long life and prosperity!! Haha. Amen.

Above and beyond!!

I just want to say 700!!

That is the number of children that will come from my zone.

That is the number that I put my faith in.

That is the number my leaders are agreeing together with.

That is the number our passion will go all out for.

That is the number that we are trusting God for.

That is the number our love are going out for.

That is the number that will come to past!!

Thank you Jesus.

If you can see it, you can have it. Believe with your heart and confess with your mouth.

700!!!!

For their BEST

I just don't understand why do parents from SSD would want to bring their children to SSVH. The facilities in SSD is most suitable for their children but yet they choose to go over there where the facilities is suitable only for the visually blind children. I do understand that there are no teachers there to teach the children but let's have faith and trust that teachers will be coming int o teach them. Let's believe that SAD will do something about it. I been to the school and I must say that the facilities are top notch and great. Sometimes when things seems bad, hang on and walk together and lean on each other. Well I am sad to hear that the previous teachers left to SSVH for what reasons, I do not know but they are the ones that the children look upon and see as role models. In times of crisis, what happened? They left..... Why can't they stick around trusting that if they do right, they don't have to fear anything? Now the remaining students have to be combined as there is a shortage of children. If it is because of a higher renumeration, then it is sad to see that they have lost the purpose of teaching and the passion for the special children.

What have the school done? Nothing! it is a situation poorly mismanaged... Previous teachers go back to the school and see what is happening and ask yourself what have you done. Parents for the sake of your children, make the right decision. I am praying that everything will go back to normal where the students are happy and the teachers are enthusiastic about matters. I know it will happen. It will.
